Croatian delegation in Israel

Agritech 2012, Israel

Croatian minister of Agriculture, Mr Tihomir Jakovina, with the delegation of Deputy Ministers, as well as director of the Croatian Waters and director of the Croatian Forests, will visit Israel from 14th till 17th May, upon the invitation from the Israeli Minister of Agriculture.  Besides visiting Agritech 2012 agricultural exhibition, Minister Jakovina will have meetings with his Israeli counterparts. Israel is looking forward to Minister's visit . The visit was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel together with the Embassy of Israel in Croatia.

Professor ILAN CHET visited Croatia from 9th till 11th of May

Professor ILAN CHET visited Croatia from 9th till 11th of May and held a series of lecture at the Institute Rudjer Boskovic, Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb as well at the Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek. Professor Chet completed his doctoral work in microbiology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot. Prof. Chet's research deals with the biological control of plant disease, focusing on the use of environment friendly microorganisms to decrease the need for pesticides. He has published more than 380 articles in international scientific journals, edited five books in his field, and holds 38 patents. He has trained more than 30 Ph.D. and 55 M.Sc. students.

Prof. Chet served as the Founding Director of the Otto Warburg Minerva Center for Agricultural Biotechnology (1983 – 1986), as Dean of Hebrew University's Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot (1986 – 1989) and as Vice President for Research and Development of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1991 – 2001). In the years 2001-2006 Prof. Chet served as the President of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot and was nominated Institute Professor at the Weizmann Institute in 2005. After he finished his term he returned to the Hebrew University as a professor.

Prof. Chet has been a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities since 1998, the European Academy of Sciences since 2004 and the European Academy of Microbiology since 2010. In 2010 he was appointed Deputy Secretary General for Higher Education and Research in the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean.

The Embassy of the State of Israel has organized a serie of lectures of the leading Israeli experts, scientists and professors.

 

Embassy of the State of Israel in cooperation with Zagreb University has organized Academic Seminar titled "The Idea of a Nation State - Israel's experience".

Seminar was held on April 26, 2012 in Aula hall at Zagreb University, Trg M.Tita 14, Zagreb.

 

Distinguished proffesors from Israel held lectures at the seminar: Prof. Daniel Gutwein, Prof. Nissim Calderon, Prof. Menachem Mautner, Prof. Yair Hirschfeld.

Righteous among the nations

YAD VASHEM

Based on the decision of Yad Vashem, the Embassy of the State of Israel awarded a medal and a certificate of the Righteous among the Nations to the late husband and wife Schmidlehner who have, in the dark years of persecutions of Jews, saved the life of the Jewish boy Dan Flesch.

 

The ceremony took place in Ludbreg on March 14, 2012 in cooperation with the Municipality of Ludbreg.

ISRAELI EMBASSY IN ZAGREB - ACTIVITIES AND COOPERATION

Sunday, 04.09.2011: The Israeli National football team arrived to Croatia for its game vs. Croatia.

During their training in Maksimir Stadium, team was excited to meet children from St. Joseph House.

 

Last year Embassy of the State of Israel donated more than 27,000 Kuna to St. Joseph's Orphanage, in which 31 children are being taken care of.

 Yosef Amrani, Ambassador of the State of Israel and Ognjen Kraus, President of the Jewish Community Zagreb, visited St. Joseph's Orphanage in Hrvatski Leskovac yesterday. Visit was planned for November last year, when the Embassy and the Jewish Community Zagreb organized a performance by the famous Israeli dance group Batsheva in Croatian National Theatre, and the revenues of the event were donated to St. Joseph's Orphanage. A bit more than 27,000 Kuna made 31 children and sisters very happy.

"It is an honor for us to be able to help. We know that is not enough and we would like to continue with helping St. Joseph's Orphanage", said Yosef Amrani.
